MOVIE TIME What does it take to put a theater room into an existing game room? First, your room needs to be about 16 feet deep, if you want to watch a screen measuring 100 to 120 inches diagonally. Otherwise, you’re too close to the screen. If you don’t have this kind of space, Winkler can install a plasma screen or a series of smaller screens. The area also has to be rather dark in color with few windows. “We might portion a part of the room or use drapes. Truthfully, the theater room can accommodate games, a bar and a movie area. It can have different levels. You can take this room wherever your imagination and your budget can accommodate.” Prices for theater room conversions aren’t child’s play. Prepare to spend $8,000 to $10,000 on the low end; $20,000 to $30,000 buys a midrange room; $100,000 is the cost for a theater room on the high end. Some clients ask for special soundproofing, which adds to the cost. Winkler says his company can handle all requests. “We can do the entire space now — the wiring, the placement of speakers, fiber optics in the ceiling ,controlled lighting, the screens, the calibrating — and make everything look and sound properly,” he says. The projector, which runs about $2,500, is a large portion of the price tag. The fancier the model, the higher the price. “We sell a lot of projectors in the $10,000 range,” Winkler says. “But you can watch everything there — play video games, movies, TV — it’s like a regular TV, just bigger.” Posted in Site Links | No Comments » Leather Care10. With spring ushering in, it is now a good time to clean that leather furniture. Your leather furiture will last quite a bit longer with just a little care. It is important to clean your upholstered leather furniture with a soft cleaner and than go back and apply the conditioner. It is important to remove body oils and soilage from seating and arm areas , if neglected, the result will greatly diminsh the protective coating on the leather, subjecting it to peeling and cracking. We recommend to apply these products 2-3 times a year for normal usage or 4-5 times for heavy usage. Remember, a little goes a long way. Always try products in a inconspicuous area first to be sure of the results. For more information and purchasing of leather care products, please click here. TOP GRAIN LEATHER Webster dictionary offers nearly a hundred definitions for the word “top”. It also means to excel, to surpass, to dominate or to be superior to the rest. Top grain is generally not the tops! FULL GRAIN LEATHER Just as the grain , texture and markings of wood should reveal the nature of the tree from which it came, leather should display the natural markings and grain characteristics of the animal from which it was taken. The best upholstery leathers are clear, clean, and supple. They are also dyed through with transparent aniline dyes. The full natural grain is retained and they are called “full grain leather.” Full grain leather - it is the tops! Hides selected for furniture are sliced to a uniform thickness on precision machines. Only the surface (top grain) is used. The lower portions or splits are weaker, due to the elongated cell structure. Splits are subject to stretching and therefore provide an unstable base which results in cracking of topcoat finishes. The familiar “chamois” used in auto care is an example of split leather. A.
